Quilts at the Marshall House   Marshall, MI

Have you made the trip to Marshall, Michigan?  Quilts at the Marshall House is located in one of the oldest buildings in historic downtown Marshall.  It is worth making a special field trip to visit.  Owner Karen Larsen offers a wide variety of supplies, patterns and fabrics.  There are 4000 bolts(!) of fabric separated into different rooms.  She has a small room with just children’s prints; a sizeable collection of traditional and Civil War fabrics and a large room with a whopping collection of batiks – a favorite place to browse for me.

I also love to sit at the “pattern table” and look through all the patterns for sale.  Many examples are made up.  I always feel this gives you a better idea of how something will turn out. It is just part of this shop’s charm.

Karen was not working the day I visited, but her staff was very friendly and helpful.  One of the women I spoke with the most, told me she had taught quilting and Karen recruited her to work in the shop.  She loved, loved her job there. (She didn’t have to share that with me!)

Look up Quilts at the Marshall House (www.quiltsatthemarshallhouse.com) and plan your own field trip.

It looks like you could spend some time looking at patterns and books here!
