About Me

I have always been interested in creating using color.  I started sewing in childhood then took up quilting about 11 years ago.  I took some classes at a local quilt shop and that started my new passion.  I particularly love the Batik fabrics with their beautiful color variations; they lend themselves to be matched with unlikely partners.  I also like combining uncomplicated blocks with beautiful color to make modern looking quilts.

I belong to the Prayers and Patches Quilt Group of Commerce, Michigan. We spend time together making comfort and baptism quilts to give.  It's also a good place to learn and share ideas.

While traveling, I try to make sure I stop at any quilt shops along the way.  I often bring home new ideas and fabrics to add to my collections.  You can follow some of my shop travels on my blog, "The Traveling Quilter."

About My Quilts

All my quilts are handmade of new, 100% cotton fabric.  They are cut, pieced and sewn by me in my non-smoking home.  I have all the quilts machine quilted locally.  All my quilts are machine washable.  (I usually hang them to dry.) The batting is a cotton-polyester blend that is very washable.  The binding is sewn on by hand to make a smooth finish. I do not use a computerized machine, so quilts can have some slight imperfections. I think this adds to each quilt being a unique, handmade piece.
